Primary Blog/New Moon Yoga Nidra Script: Deep Renewal and Intention, Release Old Energy, Reset Your Mind, and Begin Again Within

This New Moon Yoga Nidra script is designed to help you guide your client into deep rest and gentle renewal. The new moon symbolizes a quiet reset point, making this practice ideal for releasing tension and creating space for new intentions. You’ll lead your client through slow body relaxation, breath awareness, and a soft exploration of what they’re ready to cultivate next. Use a calm pace that supports their comfort and allows insight to arise naturally.

Let’s get started.

New Moon Yoga Nidra Script:

Invite your client to lie down in a position that feels fully supported—perhaps on a yoga mat, a cushioned surface, or anywhere their body can completely let go. Encourage them to make small, mindful adjustments until their body feels soft, grounded, and ready to rest.

Let their arms rest at their sides with their palms facing upward, symbolizing openness and receptivity to the fresh beginning of the new moon.

Guide them to take a slow, deep breath in… allowing the breath to expand gently through the ribs… and then a long, unhurried breath out, releasing the residue of the day.

Suggest they take one more deep breath, drawing in a sense of possibility… and releasing anything that feels heavy or stagnant. Let the body begin to settle into the stillness beneath them.

Invite them to bring awareness to the quiet darkness behind their closed eyes. This is not an empty darkness, but a fertile, gentle space where new beginnings take root. The new moon sky—soft, spacious, and full of potential—mirrors their inner landscape, inviting them into deep rest and renewal.

Guide their attention to the breath, noticing its natural rhythm. Allow them to feel the inhale as a soft wave rising… and the exhale as that wave dissolving into stillness.

No effort, no control. Simply observing. With each exhale, let them imagine clearing a small space within themselves—making room for clarity, ease, and the beginnings of new intention.

Now slowly guide awareness through the body. Start at the crown of the head. Invite the top of the head to soften.

Bring awareness to the forehead… smoothing out any tightness… releasing the small muscles around the eyes.

Let the cheeks soften… the jaw loosen… the tongue rest.

Move awareness into the throat, allowing it to open and relax.

Guide the attention gently into the shoulders. Encourage them to feel the shoulders melting downward, letting go of weight they no longer need to carry.

Allow this wave of ease to travel down the arms, past the elbows, into the hands, all the way to the fingertips. Let both arms feel warm, heavy, and still.

Bring the awareness to the chest, noticing the soft rise and fall of each breath. Invite the chest to soften.

Let the awareness move into the belly—expansive, unguarded, free to relax. Encourage them to let the belly soften even more, giving the body permission to rest deeply.

Move the awareness into the hips, inviting grounding and stability. Encourage them to release tension stored here, imagining the earth beneath them absorbing whatever they no longer need.

Guide the awareness down through the thighs, the knees, the calves… into the ankles… and finally all the way into the feet and toes. Let the legs grow heavy, warm, and deeply relaxed.

Allow a moment of silence here. Let the entire body rest in stillness.

Now invite them to imagine the night sky above—a dark, moonless sky that holds quiet promise. This is the moment of the new moon, a time of reflection, renewal, and gentle rebirth. Encourage them to rest inside this darkness, knowing it is full of possibility and healing.

Invite them to sense what they might be ready to release. Without forcing or analyzing, let old thoughts, patterns, or tensions drift upward like wisps of smoke into the night sky. Each exhale softens the hold of old stories. Each exhale clears a small path inward.

Now gently guide them toward intention. Explain that the new moon is a powerful time to plant seeds within the heart—not through striving, but through awareness.

Invite them to notice if a feeling, a word, or a direction emerges. It might be clarity… peace… healing… balance… courage… or simply rest. Let whatever arises be enough.

Encourage them to imagine placing this intention at the center of the new moon—small, glowing, subtle. Let the intention sit there quietly, absorbing the softness of the night, gaining strength through stillness. It doesn’t need to be perfect. It only needs to be true.

Let a long, spacious pause follow.

Now guide them to imagine this intention gently settling into the body. Perhaps into the heart… or the breath… or the space behind the eyes. Let it find its home naturally, becoming part of their inner landscape.

Slowly bring their awareness back to the body, noticing once again the rise and fall of the breath… the weight of the body… the touch of the surface beneath them. Invite gentle movement—fingers, toes, maybe a long stretch if it feels good.

When they’re ready, guide them to open their eyes, carrying the quiet clarity and renewal of the new moon with them.
