Guided Imagery Scripts Written Out for Adults:

Invite your client to find a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down, ensuring their body feels fully supported and at ease. Ask them to gently close their eyes and begin to notice the natural rhythm of their breath, without trying to change it.

Encourage them to take a slow, deep inhalation, feeling the air move in, and a long, gentle exhalation, releasing tension and letting go of any stress. As they continue to breathe in this calm, natural way, guide them to imagine a warm, soothing light surrounding their body—a light that feels safe, nurturing, and gentle.

With each breath, this light spreads slowly through every muscle, every joint, and every part of their being, softening tension in the shoulders, easing tightness in the neck, and melting away any strain in the back or legs.

Now, invite them to visualize themselves at the entrance of a serene forest path. The sun filters softly through the branches, casting playful patterns on the ground.

The air is crisp and fresh, carrying the subtle scent of pine, moss, and wildflowers. As they take their first step along this path, encourage them to notice the soft sound of leaves underfoot and the gentle whisper of the wind moving through the trees.

With every step, they feel more grounded, more connected to the earth beneath them, and more present in this peaceful space. The forest is alive with gentle sounds—perhaps a distant bird song or the trickle of a hidden stream—and they allow themselves to simply observe, taking in the beauty and tranquility around them.

As they continue along the path, they may find a small clearing bathed in sunlight, revealing a calm, crystal-clear pond. Invite them to approach the water and notice the reflections dancing on its surface, the delicate ripples created by a gentle breeze, and the subtle movement of dragonflies skimming across the water.

Encourage them to sit beside the pond, feeling the cool grass or soft earth beneath them, and to take a moment to breathe deeply, letting the serene environment fill them with a sense of calm and clarity.

Suggest they gently touch the water, feeling its refreshing coolness and imagining that every gentle ripple carries away any remaining tension, worries, or heaviness, leaving their body and mind lighter and more at ease.

Guide them to bring awareness to their senses: the warmth of the sunlight on their skin, the subtle scents carried on the breeze, the delicate sounds of nature surrounding them, and the soft feeling of the earth beneath their hands.

Invite them to notice any sensations within their own body, acknowledging them without judgment, simply observing and letting them be.

Encourage them to allow their thoughts to drift naturally, like leaves floating on a gentle stream, knowing they are safe to release anything that no longer serves them.

Finally, guide them to take a few more slow, deep breaths, feeling the restorative energy of this mental sanctuary infusing every cell of their body.

When they are ready, gently encourage them to bring their awareness back to the present space, noticing the support of the chair or floor beneath them, the sounds in the room, and the feeling of their own body in the here and now.

As they slowly open their eyes, they carry with them a renewed sense of calm, balance, and inner clarity, ready to continue with their day in a grounded, peaceful state.
