This guided imagery script is created to help you lead your client into a nurturing and emotionally safe exploration of their inner child. The purpose of this session is to gently reconnect them with the younger parts of themselves that may still hold unexpressed feelings, unmet needs, or memories that shaped their early emotional landscape.
As you guide them, this script encourages a slow, compassionate approach that gives the client space to observe, feel, and interact with their inner child in a supportive environment. Your role is to hold the energetic container, allowing the imagery to unfold organically while helping your client cultivate a deeper sense of softness, understanding, and self-connection.
Let’s get started.
Guided Imagery Script for Inner Child Healing:
Invite your client to settle into a comfortable position—either seated or lying down—allowing their body to rest naturally. Ask them to take a slow, full breath in, and as they exhale, imagine releasing anything they do not need to carry into this moment.
Encourage them to allow each breath to soften the tension in their shoulders, their jaw, and the space around their heart, gradually shifting their awareness inward. Guide them to imagine a soft, golden light appearing just above them. This light is warm, calming, and deeply familiar, as if it has been with them their entire life.
As the light slowly descends, let it surround their body with a gentle, protective glow. Invite them to breathe into this light, letting any lingering worries dissolve as warmth fills the chest, the belly, and the space around the mind.
Now, lead them to imagine that a peaceful pathway appears in front of them. This path stretches ahead into a quiet natural landscape—perhaps a garden, a forest, or a meadow. Encourage them to choose the environment that feels most comforting.
Each step along this path feels effortless and soothing, as though the earth beneath them recognizes and supports them completely. Guide them to notice how the air feels on their skin, the subtle scents around them, and the sounds that gently echo through this peaceful space.
As they continue walking, the path slowly opens into a bright, serene clearing. In the center of this clearing, they notice a small figure—their inner child. Explain that this child may appear at any age, perhaps smiling, curious, or even a bit unsure. There is no right way for the child to show themselves; they appear exactly as they need to today.
Invite your client to approach the child slowly, letting their presence express safety and kindness. Suggest they notice the details—the child’s posture, their expression, the look in their eyes. Encourage them to gently kneel or sit beside the child, offering full attention without judgment or expectation.
Guide them into a moment of quiet connection. Let them simply sit with their inner child, sharing space and breath. When the moment feels right, encourage the adult self to speak to the child with compassion.
They might offer words of reassurance, love, or understanding. Perhaps they’ll say something the child never had the chance to hear. Remind your client to notice how the child responds—through a gesture, an emotion, a look, or a sense of relief.
Invite them to deepen the connection by gently offering a comforting gesture—maybe extending a hand, giving a soft hug, or simply placing a hand over their heart if physical contact doesn’t feel right.
Encourage them to listen closely if the child has something to share—maybe a memory, a need, or a feeling that has been waiting to be acknowledged.
When the moment feels complete, guide your client to offer the child a symbolic gift—a small object of meaning, a warm light, or a gentle promise of continued care. Let this gesture represent healing, connection, and ongoing support.
Slowly, guide them to stand and let the child return to their peaceful space, knowing they are not leaving the child behind but carrying them forward in a new way. Invite your client to walk back along the path, taking with them all the warmth, understanding, and compassion that emerged in the encounter.
As they return to the present moment, encourage a deep inhale and a grounding exhale. Ask them to gently wiggle their fingers and toes, letting awareness settle back into the body. When they are ready, they may open their eyes, carrying with them a renewed sense of inner connection, softness, and clarity.
