Guided Imagery for Anxiety Script:

Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose, letting the cool, refreshing air fill your lungs. Hold it for a moment… and then gently release it through your mouth, feeling the warm air flow out. With each breath, notice how your body begins to soften, how the tension starts to melt away, leaving a sense of lightness and calm. Close your eyes if you haven’t already, and give yourself permission to fully relax. Let your thoughts drift as you allow yourself to be here, in this moment, for yourself.

Now, imagine you are standing at the edge of a forest. It’s a tranquil, inviting place, bathed in the soft, golden light of the morning sun. The air feels crisp and fresh, carrying the scents of pine, earth, and wildflowers. Above, the sky peeks through the canopy of leaves, a brilliant blue that stretches endlessly. This is a safe, welcoming space, created just for you.

As you take your first step onto the soft forest floor, notice how it feels beneath your feet. The earth is cool and springy, covered in a carpet of moss and leaves. Each step you take seems to connect you more deeply with the ground, as if the forest itself is gently supporting you. The sounds of nature surround you: the gentle rustle of leaves, the distant call of a bird, and the faint murmur of water somewhere ahead.

You begin to walk slowly, deliberately, along a winding path that leads deeper into the forest. Each step brings a sense of ease, as though with every step forward, you’re leaving behind a piece of stress, worry, or fear. The sunlight filters through the branches, creating dappled patterns on the path ahead. Feel the warmth of the sun as it kisses your skin, filling you with a sense of safety and comfort.

As you walk, take a moment to observe the beauty around you. The trees are tall and majestic, their branches spreading out like welcoming arms. Some have bark that is rough and textured, while others are smooth to the touch. You notice the vibrant green of the leaves, the way they flutter gently in the breeze, as though they’re whispering secrets of peace and serenity.

Soon, you come to a clearing in the forest. In the center of this clearing is a sparkling stream, its waters clear and inviting. The stream winds gracefully through the landscape, creating a soft, melodic sound as the water flows over smooth, rounded stones. The gentle rhythm of the stream feels soothing, almost as if the earth itself is breathing in harmony with you.

You find a comfortable spot by the edge of the stream and sit down. The grass beneath you is soft and cool, grounding you to this serene place. Dip your fingers into the water, and feel its coolness. Imagine that this water has the power to wash away all your tension, all your worries. As the current flows, it carries away anything that weighs you down, leaving you feeling light, free, and at peace.

Take a moment to look around. Notice the vibrant wildflowers growing nearby, their colors bright and cheerful. Observe the sunlight reflecting off the water’s surface, creating shimmering patterns that dance like liquid gold. Hear the rustling of the trees as a gentle breeze passes through, carrying with it a sense of renewal.

In this moment, you feel completely at ease, completely present. This place is a reflection of your inner calm, a sanctuary that exists within you. Close your eyes and take a deep breath, allowing the peace of this space to fill every part of your being. As you exhale, silently say to yourself:

"I am safe.
I am calm.
I am in control.
I am at peace."


Repeat these affirmations a few times, letting their meaning sink deeply into your heart and mind. Know that these words are true, and that you carry this sense of calm with you, no matter where you go.

When you feel ready, imagine yourself slowly standing up. Take one last look at this beautiful place, committing every detail to memory. Know that this sanctuary is always here for you. Whenever you need a moment of peace, you can return in your mind and find comfort here.

Gradually, begin to bring your awareness back to the present. Feel the surface beneath you, the gentle weight of your body grounding you. Wiggle your fingers and toes, reconnecting with the space around you. Take a deep, grounding breath in… and as you exhale, feel a renewed sense of calm and clarity.

When you’re ready, open your eyes. You are calm, you are grounded, and you are ready to move forward with peace in your heart.
